Remember that first concert you went to? It’s a thrill and rush that’s hard to forget. Maybe you saved that concert poster or have collected many since then, to remind you of each exciting event. Preserving those treasures is important as they can wrinkle, fade, or get damaged with time.

“My mom took me to concerts like KISS and Cheap Trick, and then I worked in record stores, so my love of music started early and got stronger the more music I was exposed to,” Greg Glover said.

Greg hosts both Alternative Mornings and The Bottom Forty for KNRK (94/7 Alternative Portland). He has been framing his music posters and concert posters for over 15 years with Northwest Framing. His home studio has wall to wall framed album covers and concert posters from U2 and David Bowie to Blondie and Tom Waits.

“The art tells the music’s story and my framed art pieces spark conversations and memories I hold close,” Greg added. “These pieces comfort me, tell my history in a way and really warms the room.”

Greg shared why he loves certain framed pieces more, like his Neil Young poster of On the Beach, which Greg explains is the most rare.

“I don’t see this Neil Young poster anywhere and I have been collecting art for 20 years, so I wanted to frame it right, to protect it.”

His promotion poster of the 1970’s band Big Star shows a clever and unique logo while his Replacements poster is colorful and brings him back to his youth. The Steely Dan album Aja poster with its striking red and black features was one of Greg’s mom’s favorites.

“They all have special meaning to me and looking at them every day makes me reflect on life,” Greg said. “Just framing one piece with Northwest Framing convinced me that it was one of the best investments I ever made.”

Greg found the Pearl Frame Central shop when he moved to Portland in 2004 and had several record label promotional posters custom framed. He also visited a few other Northwest Framing locations in the Portland area over the years.

“You don’t walk into stuffy galleries with Northwest Framing shops. Their locations are inviting, and their designers are friendly, which is great for a rock and roll guy like me,” Greg said. “My boss goes to Macadam Frame Central and enjoys working with Ken and his team.”

“Northwest Framing hires good people, who have great attention to detail and listen to my needs, which is why I keep coming back. The coupons and discounts are also fantastic.”

Greg started his own magazine as both writer and photographer and founded the independent record label, The Arena Rock Recording Company where he signed critically acclaimed 90’s Seattle rock band Harvey Danger. Their debut album sold a half a million copies and featured the song “Flagpole Sitta” that went to #1 on the Billboard Modern Rock chart. Greg’s love of music remained as he transitioned his career to DJ for Portland radio. He lives in Portland with his wife Alana, their rescue dog Biscuit and three felines affectionately known as the Fuzzbillies.
