As the sun fills our rooms this summer, add mirrors to increase that natural light and make your space feel more expansive. Not only do we frame mirrors, we can order custom mirror glass for you at any size. Here’s some ideas for framing and decorating with mirrors to create your light-filled home sanctuary.

Frame it with Shine
Amp up the reflective nature of mirrored glass with a metallic or lacquer frame. Here’s a gorgeous grouping of mirrors framed in metallic finishes, from an article in Domino magazine. Photo by William Abranowicz.
Amongst our 800+ mouldings, we probably have a metallic or two that you’ll love! You’ll also find high-gloss enamel and lacquer finishes. Here’s a few of our favorites.

The Lavo moulding is a popular, high-shine lacquer hand-finished by Italian craftsmen. We offer it in red and black.

A Street Frames in Massachusetts crafts metal frames by hand, offering a true industrial style.

Gold leaf is one of the oldest frame finishes. We source ours from artisans like Goldleaf Framemakers out of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Frame it in Leather

Because mirrors are timeless, they’re the perfect thing to frame in luxurious leather. One of our favorite brands is House of Mercier, above. These leather, finished corner frames are made to order in Lima, Peru. Check out their beautiful work on Facebook.
We also carry leather options that are not quite such an investment. The designer you work with can answer any questions you have about different mouldings you may be interested in.

Frame it Affordably
We have lots of options to create a mirror in the $60-200 range.
If a standard size works for you, check out our readymade frames. We carry a wide selection of wood, metallic and black and white finishes. Add flat mirror glass to any in-stock frame to create an easy, budget-friendly wall mirror.
For custom sizes, our Simple Custom program offers 6 finishes (shown here) that you can use to create any size mirror up to 24 x 36″.

We also carry decorator mirrors, selection varies by store.
Decorating Ideas for Mirrors
For fresh ideas about how to display your gorgeous new mirror, let’s turn to the home decor masters for inspiration.

Mirror glass is heavy, so we want to make sure that weight is distributed evenly to avoid damaging your wall. Depending on your mirror’s size, we will either install 3-hole “D-rings,” or a Z Bar “French cleat,” examples shown above.
Feel free to discuss hanging with the designer as you order the mirror. We can also recommend installers in the metro Seattle and Portland areas to come to your home (pending any COVID-19 restrictions).
As with any framed piece, you can increase the security of the hanging by using drywall anchors. Just a few turns with a regular screwdriver insert the anchor, creating a secure “tunnel” for the screw. Experts like Bob Vila also offer recommendations and how-to’s.
