Holiday Wall Art

No matter when you decide that it’s acceptable to start singing holiday songs, most people can agree that decorating is one of the best ways to bring a little cheer into a home. Here are some ways you can add a little more festivity without painting your walls.

Wreaths

This is a classic wall décor item. While it is most often featured on doors, try switching out one of your existing gallery wall pieces with a wreath to make it the focal point. Wreaths work well over mantles and come in a variety of sizes. They’re easy to personalize as you can attach nearly anything to it. Go with a classic evergreen (either fresh or faux) for a traditional look. You can try more unconventional materials such as driftwood, twigs, pinecones, Christmas ornaments, or even wine corks for a more unique option. Unconventional materials can yield different textures and can even look great once the holiday season comes to a close. A printed wreath is another option, and you won’t even need to sweep up the pine needles!

Cards Over the Mantle

For a personal touch, create a display for holiday cards. There are a number of do-it-yourself options or you can purchase a ready-made option. Hanging your cards is an easy way to add color and show off the special people in your life. If you save the holiday cards you receive, this can be an easy way to add spice to your walls year after year. If you already have pictures hanging above your mantel try switching them with the cards you receive during the holidays.

Try a Shadow Box

Looking to preserve some of this year’s festivity? Try a shadow box. Save part of the wreath you made and showcase it alongside your family’s portrait, or a special ornament. A shadow box can also be a great gift for grandparents for a baby’s first holiday or any other special moment. Of course, this is an area where Museum Quality Framing really shines! Garlands, Tinsel, and other Baubles

Garlands and other tinsel are a great festive wall addition. Add it to your mantle, along your banister, or even above a doorway. Employ tinsel or other holiday baubles to give extra sparkle, or use a pine or evergreen garland to add extra texture to your walls. They’re also easy to buy or to create your own. Much like a wreath, you can use all kinds of materials and add-ons to create something that coordinates with your home.

Lights

Using light as a symbol and decoration is common in many cultures, especially when celebrating a holiday. Although they are most often strung on a home’s exterior, use them inside for a cheerful radiance. String lights hung along the top of a wall give an intimate glow. Many string lights come in different shapes like miniature bulbs to delicate paper lanterns, so you can find one that fits your home all year round. Lights can also spice up existing wall art and décor to give it a little extra sparkle. Adding lights throughout your home is a simple way to add a festive charm.

No matter what you celebrate, we hope that you find the perfect wall additions to make your home feel a little bit brighter. Looking for one-of-a-kind prints and gifts? Be sure to stop into one of our local frame shops! Our designers can’t wait to help you.
