Company History

Handcrafted in the PNW: Our manufacturing facility in Portland, Oregon.

The first “Beard Frame Shop,” as it was known then, was founded by Terry Beard in 1974 in Portland, OR. Beard’s Framing has since expanded to 9 locations in greater Portland and Southern Washington.

“Beard’s Framing Outlet” first opened in Portland in 1987. This popular destination for affordable picture frames became Frame Central, which now comprises 7 stores in Washington and Oregon.

Museum Quality Framing was founded by Adrian Hanauer in 1988. There are 8 locations serving the greater Seattle area.

In 1999, Museum Quality Framing purchased Beard’s Framing and Frame Central, making us the largest custom framing company in the Pacific Northwest. We have since added a full-service art printing business, an internet fulfillment business as well as a Commercial division serving Interior Designers, Architects, Contractors and businesses throughout the country and abroad.

We are still locally-owned and operated and we hand craft all our custom frames at our facilities in Portland.

Our mission is to bring your art to life, and your life to art. Our experienced designers stay in touch with current design and color trends while adhering to the highest level of standards in the industry. We take the mystery out of custom framing by listening to your unique needs and then creating the best possible design – customized to your tastes and budget.
